So
caernsmith and
belleweather and I could not find the LJ meet-up, so we went to TGI Friday's instead. I had a GIGANTIC Bloody Mary.
Then we went to Barnes & Noble for awhile, and then they dropped me back home, where I ran water to soak a frying pan and opened up the under-the-sink cabinet to put the recyclables I'd rinsed out and put in the drying rack into the recycling bag, and...
WATER! WATER! EVERYWHERE!
Determined that drain pipe was in fact leaking all over the fucking place, and since I keep a bucket of cleaning supplies right under it, I now had a bucket of WATER and WET cleaning supplies. I had to bail a bunch of water out while holding a finger over the giant hole in the pipe elbow to prevent it from getting dumped right back in the cabinet before I could move the bucket and dump the rest of it in the tub.
The smell was INDESCRIBABLE.
Before bailing the water, actually, I called the landlord in a bit of a panic, not totally coherent: "Big water! Argh!"
Anyway, he determined with a few questions that it was only leaking when I actually ran water, and so did not require IMMEDIATE attention. But he said he'd send someone over tomorrow.
Which left me to the business of bailing, and drying off all the cleaning supplies and junk that I keep in there, and drying the cabinet bottom as best I could, but it's wood with contact paper over it--the paper was totally soaked, and kept ripping as I tried to dry it off. So first I blow-dried it a bit, and now I've got a fan blowing there to try and dry it out the rest of the way. I duct-taped over the hole in the pipe to (hopefully) keep it from dripping any more.
Ew. It really does stink. And tomorrow, of course, it's supposed to rain and drop 20 degrees or so, so I won't really be able to open all the windows to air the place out.
