I've been wanting to read Hegel. He's mentioned in my philosophy courses as a crucial intellectual figure... but by a member of a school of thought that should regard him as a noxious opponent.
But there's been a mental block. After all, the Phenomenology of Spirit is a huge tome and his writing is horrible!
Then I think to myself, I've read James Joyce when I was 16 or 17, and then I read Wittgenstein's Tractatus just for fun. I can do this.
