Mornings

Jan 07, 2010 09:50

It has been a weird set of mornings this very cold (for florida) week. The kids have been thrilled about it being cold and keep asking me if it is snowing or if it has snowed.

It has been inthe high 30's to low 40's this whole week. With the wind chill bringing it into the high 20's. I know, I know, not that cold and I am wearung long sleeved shirts and light jackets, but the kids are thin and from florida. this is extreme for them. We orcourse have no winter coats, gloves, hats, etc. So they are wearing Hoodies and jackets over top and are super excited that they get to wear "jackets" at all..;)

YTuesday when Noel picked the kids up from school their hands were like ice and they were complaining about lack of gloves. HJe took them to target and thewy ofcourse had nothing. I called when i was coming home and he told me, so I stopped at walgreens and found some of the one size fits all adult stretchy gloves, which are oversized but not too ridiculous on zach and more ridiculous on Tab. So they got to wear them yesterday, they went for the walk from the house to the car, then off for breakfast in the car, then on for the walk from the car into schoolo. Then off for the 15 minutes in side school before they went out onto the plaground and off and on through out the day...

Zach was so excited that yesterday morning he was rolling around on the ground alldressed in his "winter" gear and saying "mom, I love this cold weather" It would have been better if the spot of ground he had picked wasn't the empty parking space next to the car that another person wanted to pull into....ugh.

This morning I think Tabitha is gettign a bit sick of the cold...Drop off was eh this morning. I was running very late and tab cried on and off all morning. About zach getting new socks out of his stocking and she wanted hers, about the coice of pants I had made for her, about wanting to wear big girl underwear, about wanting a necklace, about her breakfast, about wanting to take the damn necklace into school. At one point she was eating her breakfast and said look mom, I’m not crying…ugh…

Probably just weird toddlerness, but oi.

I am glad they are gettign a nice dose of cold. It has been nice for me too. Wish it would snow, but i guess snow in south florida has happened once in recorded history so I am not holding my breath. We did finally turn the heat ona few days ago. We had held off for as long as we could and noel resisted primarily. This morning however, when i had set it back to 67 last night while we slept, he was upset set that it was too cold. Ow hwo the might have fallen...;)
