We recently returned from our annual trip to Cape Cod and Vermont. We had a wonderful time. But this trip really had me thinking about how much I really miss Vermont. I have lived in California for 15 years, but still feel wistful about Vermont. On our trip we go to the same Cape Cod beach that I went to every summer as a kid.
And I try to give my kids a real taste of Vermont--going to the lake, picking blueberries, the ice cream stand, going barefoot, catching frogs, visiting old friends and mowing the lawn.
But I got to wondering if I was missing the place I grew up in or maybe the community or maybe the simplicity of my childhood.
I'm pretty sure that it is a combination of them all. And feel so grateful that I am able to share a little bit of that with my kids.
