Hallo!

hi everyone! My email isnt working at this hostel so im posting for your viewing enjoyment. last friday i left my home of the past for months and started my journal through some euroness. the adventure began as shira and i went on the tube in the wrong way for a really long time because we were so tired from onlzy having an hour sleep the night before. luckily we made our airplane on time, however we almost missed the enxt one due to forgetting the time change and it was the most shaky ride ever and we both almost threw up.

after that drama we met up with marc and shawn and ive couldnt have been happier to see those guys cuy it eased the blow of saying good bye to everyone else the night and morning earlier (i miss you aifs kids already). there was some mix up with the hostel so we had to stay in different places but thez were both really nice and we got free breakfast. that evening we went to the jewish museum and booked our train ticket and played a game of UNO that lasted over an hour...some things never change.

saturday morning we caught our free meal and went on a free guided tour of the city of berlin ( thats the first time ive mentioned where we were, sorry) the guide was very knowledgable and made it interesting and funny and inspiring. he reminded me why im a history major to teach the mistakes of the past and prevent them from happening again. i took notes the entire tour and im gonna write them all down. hooray for history facts! after the tour we got our things together and ate and got on the train. we took an overnight train to munich and we had our own little cozy bunks.

sunday morning we got settled in our hostel and walked around munich about and saw the big clóck thing that starts with a G and I cant spell. then we went to the concentration camp Dachau which is just a bit outside fot the city. i cant even put in to words what i felt when i was there. i just still think i just dont understand what happened. its just too incomprehensible even when its right there in your face. while there we also experienced sunshine, rain, and hail within minutes, not the may weather i was hoping for.

last night we went to a beer hall that hitler once frequented. on the ceilings there used to be swazticas but they have tried covering them up now, although its so obvious. we got those huge mugs of beers and huge prezels to go with. so german.

this morning we took a train out to the castle in which the disney one was modeled after. it was up in the mountain so we took a horse drawn carriage to the top. ive never seen mountains up close and personal before and it was absolutely beautful. too bad it was freezing and hailing again, but it was well worth it. we walked around a bit and crossed this bridge where you get an amazing view of the entire castle and the surrounding mountains, but not a good place for those afraid of heights because the bottom is very far. everything was just beautiful and theres just no other way to describe it.

tonight i think were going to another beer hall and then tomorrow shira and i leave for venice and depart from marc and shawn. sorry if this is illegible this keyboard is confusing. hopefully i can check my mail soon enough.

erin, see you on sunday
everyone else, see you on may 20th
aifs....i miss you!
