WTF?? No! Wrong! This sort of thing is only meant to happen in Yes, Minister! Americans on my friends list: Why do you put up with things like this? Why is there not great public outcry? Why have you not moved to Canada/Australia/New Zealand yet? I don't understand how things like this can happen! I despair for humanity!

OMG that could've been taken straight from a "Yes Minister" episode! o.O

Dizzy's century was brilliant, wasn't it? I've been busy with my essay so I haven't been watching, but Dad got home from work and said "Jason Gillespie is on ninety" and I was all WFT?!!1!!one!

I still don't think I've heard a single Cat Empire song *ducks*

Yes, it's very, very Sir Humphrey. Changing the figures without actually changing the problem. Reminds me of the episode of Yes Prime Minister where Humphrey manages to reduce the Civil Service pay claim from 43% to 6% using sneaky figures.

I was out last night so I didn't get to watch it on telly, but I read about it today. Despite it being a century it still seemed like a typical Gillespie innings, nice and slow - took him six hours and nearly 300 balls to get there. *g*

GAH! YOU MUST!! EVERYONE MUST! You can download a few of their songs from their website, or I could burn copies for you. Or both!

Hee, that's the one I was thinking of too! The worry is, though, that Bush probably doesn't get why it's wrong *G*

He's not like your typical bowler slashing wildly at everything in sight :)

*lol* I'm sure I'll get around to DLing something eventually. But I only ever think of it during the day, when I prefer to DL during my off-peak period where possible.

Bush probably wouldn't know a proper wetland if he fell in one. Or if someone pushed him in one, which would be far more entertaining. *g*

Prime example, Shane Warne. It's worked for him occasionally, and I think he's got the highest batting average of the bowlers at the moment, but you can't really rely on him to stubbornly refuse to get out like Gillespie does. This'll do wonders for his average. *g* If getting fifty raised McGrath's average a whole two points from 5 to 7, imagine what a century will do for Dizzy!

I hate the whole peak/off peak thing. Last month one of my housemates got a new computer and went download crazy, but only at night. We used something like 20% of our offpeak allocation, but the peak downloads were gone in ten days. Ten days!! We had three agonising weeks of speed limiting after that, and someone received a stern talking-to about only downloading during the day.

Sadly Americans don't pay close enough attention to the news. You'd be amazed how few people knew our VP shot someone in the face. Also, this is pretty typical of our administration's flippant attitude towards the environment, human rights, etc., and positions like these are like snakes on medusa's head - attack one, and ten sprout up.
I'd really love to move to Melbourne. I hear it's very liveable.

People really don't know the VP shot his mate? It was all we heard about for a week or so, and it's not even our country. Everyone still jokes about it. We keep saying we'd like our Deputy PM to take shooting lessons from Cheney and go hunting with John Howard.

Actually, if we believe my home city's marketing people, Brisbane is Australia's most liveable city. I agree with you though, I hear Melbourne is far nicer.

Also, I am glad you're back. :-)

Well, yeah, I mean the media was all over the story, it's just that [most] Americans largely tend to ignore current events. Ignorance is bliss, etc. Also, our media is cluttered with idiots, and they've made it pretty unwatchable/readable. An example: Barbie doll predicts certain death">
It's insane.
