WTF?? No! Wrong! This sort of thing is only meant to happen in Yes, Minister! Americans on my friends list: Why do you put up with things like this? Why is there not great public outcry? Why have you not moved to Canada/Australia/New Zealand yet? I don't understand how things like this can happen! I despair for humanity!
Well, not all humanity. The parts of humanity that belong to the Australian cricket team are fine. Am thrilled that Gillespie made his
maiden Test century! Quote of the month: "Have not even got 100 in the back yard, so it's a bit surreal at the moment." Dizzy's next challenge should be to make 100 against a team that isn't rubbish. Bangladesh is a good starting point but I'll be really impressed when he can make 100 against England or India. *g*
Visited my mum last night to indulge in the one really shameful TV show I never miss. Also for free food and to see the cats. There are four cats at Mum's at the moment because Grandma's moved in, bringing Midnight with her, while she shops around for a campervan. Midnight has been using Mum's pots of herbs in the kitchen as litter trays. She's killed three varieties of basil and a couple of other things so far; Mum is not impressed. The other cats have all coped well with their guest - Limpy can bash up anything so he's not worried, Tiger is always gunning for a fight but runs away whenever one is offered, and Star just hangs around outside and stays out of the way.
I have decided I like Smokey better than Tiger. I picked Tiger up last night and she put two puncture wounds in my neck. I look like a vampire victim. You would never see my new cat doing that, because she is lovely and gentle, instead of obnoxious and violent.
Still haven't posted pictures of Smokey. Should probably do something about that at some point. I'm getting everyone to just give me cash toward a digital camera for my birthday so hopefully Smokey pictures will be forthcoming sooner rather than later.
Speaking of photos of cats,
this is a great photo set of someone bathing their cat. Nice, clear, crisp photography, with some great action shots of the cat trying to escape. The cat's facial expressions are priceless, ranging from mute despair to I KILL YOU NOW. Bizarrely, the cat is named Milk, but I will forgive that because he's so cute, with his big eyes and his Scottish Fold bent ears and his desperate, soggy struggles for bathless freedom.
Gah, I just realised also that I haven't raved about the new Cat Empire album yet. It's called "Cities: The Cat Empire Project" and IT IS GREAT AND YOU SHOULD ALL BUY IT. There is disco guitar on some tracks, you can't get better than that. Well, you can. Felix's voice, for instance. He's not an amazingly good singer, but his voice is SEX, I swear. Everything that the band usually does right is as spot-on as ever - the horns, the keys, the percussion, Harry's scatting, the catchy bass lines, it is all brilliant. I have listened to very little else for the last couple of weeks. Everyone should listen to it, it's great. Overseas friends: The Cat Empire is touring the US, Canada, UK and Europe this year. Don't miss out on the best live show you will ever see. This band's CD's are great but they are nothing compared to seeing them live. Even if you've never heard them before - if you like jazz, latin, hip hop, reggae, blues, rock, whatever, go see them because they're pretty much all of the above, all at once. Tour info
