Friday, I got a first glimpse of the knowledge gap I've accumulated.  We took a doctrinal knowledge pop quiz and of the 101 questions, I answered 25 to 30 correctly.  As disappointed as I should be with the score, I'm glad I have an initial assessment to use.  I need to shake my attitude of 'I'm just here to check the ( Read more... )

At long last, I've finally added Michael Radford's vision of George Orwell's 1984 to the DVD collection.  Visually desolate, Radford's adaptation remains fairly faithful to the novel.  Of note, this movie featured Richard Burton in his last role as the cold, meticulous O'Brien and John Hurt (Chancellor Sutler) in the role of Winston Smith.
