Good Morning, World

What's my destiny today?

It seems three pages of long hand script weren't enough to slow the gears down hence I have found myself here.  It's been a while since I have written anything and I hope to reverse this trend in the coming weeks now that my master's degree classes have ended and there are still four weeks of downtime until JEOC starts.

So far, there's been nothing official by way of orders (or even an RFO) for my DC assignment and to say I'm getting antsy is a gross understatement.  Maranda and I have developed our backwards timeline for the move to Texas and now we're stuck playing the waiting game.  It's been bittersweet watching our friends move away, waiting for our turn to leave, wondering if our turn is even going to come, but at this point we've decided that we're out of here - with or without orders.

FLW is a nice place to disappear in for a while, but I sure as hell don't want to live here longer than I have to.

In the meantime, I'm going to catch up on movies and hopefully another book or two.  I recently finished Way of the Peaceful Warrior, and haven't picked up anything since.  There is no shortage of reading material from which to choose; my problem is a lack of motivation due in part to the underwhelming Way.  Not to say that it was a bad read.  On the contrary, it would have been a great book for me to have read in high school before I read the Tao I Ching and been exposed to Zen Buddism.  Published in 1980, it is a bit dated and out of synch with where I am now but still potent enough to make me realize that I haven't made enough changes in my life to refocus on positive personal growth.  It's time to get on track.

Maybe it isn't as out of synch as I'd like to think it is.

In other news, this past week was an interesting adventure.  Saturday's highlight was a jaunt up to St. Louis to see Cyanotic followed by a return trip Wednesday to see Murder by Death.  Both shows were good fun but created a little strain between Maranda and I.  I need to use this week to spend some quality time at home with my ladies before the relocation madness begins.  We are all ready for a change of scenery and a little tense but I think we can still manage a good time.

Here's to a new week and making it work!
