Today, I received a parcel containing not one but two items that I ordered from an IT clearance company. One was a USB 3.5inch floppy disk drive, and the other was a PCMCIA serial port. Both items just plugged in and worked! The floppy disk drive will happily read both 1.44Mb and 720k disks, which is a plus (some don't, apparently). I thought I'd better get one when the price was right (£5) and not in a few years time when they're rare legacy items (£££). The PCMCIA serial port just plugged in to the IBM ThinkPad and popped up as /dev/ttyS2, the other end of which is connected to the microprinter. And it came with a loop-back test plug, too! Closer examination reveals that it's a 5V card, so it should work in the Libretto, which will be handy.
