Summary: The stars and the sand brought memories.
She licked the last drop of coffee from her lips as she gazed at the stars. She kicked her sandals from her feet and let her toes get buried in the sand.
It was already past midnight, but she still walked by the shore, with the waves violently pushing her away like an unwanted guest.
It felt like it was just yesterday when she was here with him.
He held her hand as they walked by the seashore.
With Orion as their witness, he declared his unending love for her amidst the violent waves.
It reflected her emotions.
Flattered.
Joyful.
Torn.
It broke her heart to walk away from him at that instant. She pushed him away literally and figuratively, but he would not let her go.
She told him way back that she could not reciprocate his love, yet he still wanted to prove himself and wait until she learns to love him back.
She could have waited. However, she cared enough for him to push him away before she could cause him much pain.
He gazed deeply into her eyes and he understood. He kissed her forehead and squeezed her hand before he finally let go.
It was the last time that she saw him before he lost the battle with cancer a month after.
She sighed and gazed up at the stars. The dark clouds covered the stars. They were gone too soon, just like him.
