Goodbye my Boston beauty, farewell my Boston rose.

Another morning of random Irish songs dancing through my head. It could be worse, my Little Boss gets kids' show theme songs stuck in hers. That could really suck.

I finally finished Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell this weekend. I don't remember the last time it took me a month to finish a book. Granted, that one is on the larger side, and it wasn't a fast read.

For a drastic change of pace, I'm now reading Steve Martin's Shopgirl.

I had a scary experience on Friday night on the metro, and of course I left my opening draft relating the event in my apron at home. I was bored for a lot of my Saturday night shift so I started writing it out.

I think tonight will be a nice home evening with no one but Trin. I was out and around people every night since Wed and I need to recharge. Under the alcohol-induced extroversion, I'm an introvert at heart. I'd like to shoot some darts but I should be gentle with myself. I practiced pretty hard last night and, yeah, time alone sounds good. Note to self: Call/email D again about getting my damn board up in my apartment.

4P's schedule this week is Tue for Theology on Tap (gah, Catholics can be some of the worst tippers ever; all that tithing doesn't leave much to show appreciation for your server) then Saturday night for a 40 Thieves show. I've never heard nor seen the band, but a full-timer at 4P's said they're pretty good. With the school year started up, the manager books bands and acts that aren't the usual locals.

My throat's giving me some pain. Someone this morning asked if I had a cold or allergies, and I think I'm starting to get kind of sick. I'm not surprised, I've been burning the candle at both ends for a bit. Probably why my knee's starting to bother me (a fun experience I haven't had since I was about 12), running around like a maniac as I do multiple times a week.

The more I think about it, the more appealing a night with a kitty sounds. I bought her a little scratching pad thing, which is the first one she's had since her old one died a scratched-out death years ago. I know I should probably get her a scratching post, but I'm hesitant to spend the money on something she might not like. She's 5 years old and never had a scratching post in her life, I'm not sure if she'd even take to it. I know she likes the cardboard scratching pads, though, and this one has little tassels on the corners for "added kitty enjoyment," as the blurb on the box informed me.

I also got her a stick-toy with a kind of boa-fuzzy thing on the end-purple, of course. She's a big fan of the stick-toys, and I threw away her last feather (also purple) when we moved since it looked rather wilted. I caught her last night picking up the toy where the fuzzy meets the stick and throwing it up in the air. She's a bizarre cat, but at least she can entertain herself.

rambling, metro, 4ps, books, darts, trinity
