half watching some giant leaf-sucking machine clear the streets, and pondering how odd city life is. apparently i'm the only one on the block enthralled with this. granted even i do not find it curious enough to sit outside with something to smoke, wrapped in a sweater, and watch the festivities, but...
first the backwoods of port, then res, and then a tiny street in victoria. This, here on a real street near downtown, is the first glimpse i get of city convenience. huzzah. 'tis true, i come from an area with no street lights, where power may be out for a few days due to trees falling, and where cellphones lose reception. scary, isn't it? granted that's just the lake, and everyone else can live in a relative pit-stop of a city. one giant gas station on the road to tofino.
sirens picking up now. at least at home the sirens were usually fire trucks rushing to our house when the parents set the chimney on fire. and what is it, 10 or so more days and i'll be right downtown here. I'm trying to convince david that we can live near the city but not in the city when we are growed-up and have a house.
i suddenly want another cup of that frothy mexican chocolate purchased by david's uncle. until we find a source of the chocolate, namely a store rather than an uncle, it is being jealously guarded. This, then, means that my new mission is to fine a store that sells it (shouldn't be too hard if i look around) and then get a blender so that i can grind it up.
i skipped dance but mean to go on saturday. i'm too tired. i was up at the ungodly hour of 7am in order to meet with an Advisor at the university to ensure that i could graduate. the woman reminded me of Kathleen-in-15 Years. she assured me that all the "no's" on the report were either peculiarities of the padre program, or else easily fixed administration errors. I dropped co-op, which was an odd feeling since i was so set on getting in to it 3 years ago. i picked up 3 graduation applications (for myself, david, and debbie since apparently i am not only david's but EVERYONE'S secretary-bitch). i found out that i coudl indeed audit Bowman's myth class. hooray.
in other news, tonight there is a lecture on Representations of Pontius Pilate in Medieval Art. this prompted a long rant from tristan about how he didn't find out about it in time to go. after the lecture i go to glenn's for some thursday night debauchery. then back here for pizza, maybe some latin, and sleep. need sleep.
deo gratias that i do not work tomorrow.
