Oh, it's been an even longer while...

So much for posting even once a month... And now I'm mostly posting because I've got a question, to be honest. But let's start with that and then see where we go ( Read more... )

I haven't had a similar email but am so rarely on LJ these days that my journal has fallen down the back of the couch cushions,
That's what I would have thought about mine - my posts have been so sporadic over the last few years, even if I have intermittently tried a bit harder... I'm really hoping it's a glitch email, because if my lj does go, then so does an awful lot of comm content that's formatted around my lj pictures and so on... Eep-face!

what comm you're talking about, where previous posts were deleted, but that's sacrilege. These comms are part of the history of fandoms and to delete posts shows a total lack of respect for what has gone before.
It's called pros_wip, and was started by maddalia way back when. I must admit that I don't remember much about it, but I'm a member from back then, so clearly there were posts and things were happening - and now the only posts there are the ones since Fiorenza claimed the comm for herself this year. Like you say, it's deleting fandom history, and just not okay imnsho...

OFMD is a brilliant "gay pirate romcom" (The Guardian's description).
Which just shows how much the Grauniad's critic didn't get it! It's not a "gay pirate" anything - it's a love story between two people who happen to be pirates, and what I love about OFMD is that it is saturated with just people! It gets rid of the whole "men do this", "women do this", "this other is 'gay' because the norm is not-gay"... it's just about people in love, and dealing with other people... And that's how the producers/directors/writers describe it, and that's why it's got such a huge and adoring fandom. It's how the world should be. Probably a bit less toe-eating, but that's trauma for you.... *g*

The fandom launched a huge "save our show" campaign, trying for a third season, but I haven't heard the outcome.
Yeah, sadly the writer/showrunner, David Jenkins, posted a few weeks ago to say that despite all efforts no one was picking up a third season... tragedy, tragedy, tragedy...
