Oh, it's been an even longer while...

So much for posting even once a month... And now I'm mostly posting because I've got a question, to be honest. But let's start with that and then see where we go.

I had an email from Lj recently, saying that they'd blocked content in one of my entries (oddly, from 2021) because it contained spam which was against the Lj ToS - which would be fair enough if it actually had been spam, but I can't see anything at all in the post (which still looks identical to the one saved over in my DW back-up) that is spam-ish. It doesn't even have links (not the DW version either). It was a meme about AO3 stories, but obviously personally written, not just copy-pasted.

Has anyone else had an email like that? It's from a do-not-reply email address, so I can't even query it...

I wouldn't even worry about it, since nothing seems to be missing, except that of course the email says that if I persist in posting spam my Lj will be suspended. So... simply a glitch email? A preface to deleting my lj for some reason (possibly not even connected to me)? I must admit I've been surprised that there hasn't been more lj-related fall-out to Russia's attacks on Ukraine, but then of course there's also a big Ukraine presence on lj, so I figured us others were just cruising under anyone's radar.

If my Lj does disappear, though, it won't be by my doing, so do please come and find me somewhere else if you want to keep in touch. Not that I've been in touch via lj much recently anyway... sorry...!

I keep thinking about posting, and then get into a tangle wondering who's actually out there reading. The thing is, I started my lj so I could join in the conversations of inspiration and love about our lads, but now, even when I can see that people are reading, we're mostly missing the conversation. I mean, it's lovely to see the love-heart icons that people leave to the posts I make, but they don't take me anywhere, if you see what I mean, when it's conversation I'm after. Pictures are pretty, but I love ideas and thoughts and words...

And the conversation that someone did try to start recently also felt rather homophobic to me, which again is not what I want to have to deal with here, and it presented untruths about Pros fandom as if they were facts (Pros intolerant of drabbles? Wtf? Demonstrably untrue...) I'm not keen on the idea of "resurrecting" a comm, only to delete all the old posts, and then criticise slash on there, when it was perfectly slash-friendly to start with. I don't even know why you'd do that, rather than starting your own comm, except to come in with a ready-made audience who'd joined what the comm was previously, and make it look like they supported what you were doing now... Is that where Pros on lj is going now?

Ugh - look at me, all negative. I'm actually not, I'm just not sure where to go with lj now. What do you reckon? How are you feeling about it all?

Mind you, one of the reasons I'm not all negative right now is that it's been one of the rare times I've fallen for another fandom. I'm currently wallowing in the kindness and thoughtfulness of Our Flag Means Death, which is just what I need right now. Have trailers for the two (and sadly only) series. It's a love story, and a story about pirates, and it's hugely funny and smart and just genius. Difficult not to be when Taika Waititi is involved of course he's one of my favourite directors/actors/producers/human-beings-I've-never-met.

I love the trailers, but I'd say OFMD is even better than they show. It's even based on a true story - the Gentleman Pirate actually did end up sailing with Blackbeard for a period... But the big thing for me is that it manages to be kind despite being about violent dramatic pirates... You'll have to watch to see what I mean, but it's just a dream...
