Holiday Day Four - On the Road Again

Aug 23, 2010 23:50

I can't believe that this is technically Day Four already, but it is... slept in again (well, for me) despite going to bed quite early - lovely, it was! And also makes me think that I really need a better bed at home... Hey ho!

But today was my favourite kind of holiday day - road trip! Into Little Car we clambered and off down south into ( Read more... )

Love Perranuthnoe. We stayed in that hotel on the hill on the left at the top of the village a few years ago. Nice but they were a bit religious. And that pub down in the village is excellent. Fabby pics.

Oh, I was just thinking about you! I realised that I'd not linked up the final part of Birdwatchers at palelyloitering, and so I went off to do that - complete at last! And tomorrow, you know, we're planning to drive down to Nanquidno... *g*

Oh, and look at your icon - lovely!

Ta for that... didn't realise. :-)

Oooh... I hope you take piccies! Probably too late as you're doubtless on the way now. :-)

I definitely took piccies! We're still trying to decide where Bodie lived - thought we'd got it, but now realise that we could be totally wrong, as there's a proper "Nanquidno House" that used to be a farmhouse, and it might be a much better contender... though we know his house might not really be real, but... We saw that he gets there via "the lane that led down to Nanquidno. It veered to the right at the bottom and he careered around it, past his housekeeper's cottage and on towards the very end of the lane and home." and so we were going by the "at the bottom" bit, but maybe it should veer to the right before the very end and then it would end up at Nanquidno House, but... oooh, it's all twist-y trying to work it out! *g* (And very fun *vbg*)

Anyway - I posted a few, and I've a few others if you'd like to see them just for you... *g*

Oh dear Lord, I love Cornwall, especially the St Ives bit! Back in my younger days I used to get a local rail pass for the week and if the weather was bad I was blissfully happy riding the ten minutes between St Ives and St Erth and back, just me and my book and the view.

Doyle's grandmother lives there. Well, Carbis Bay actually. I'll write that story before I die, with any luck!

I'm so glad you're having such a lovely time!

Cornwall is wonderful, one of my favourite places in the world. I adore wild and there's something still so part-of-nature about Cornwall... And what a gorgeous thing to do when the weather's poorly!

And oooh! for your Doyle's-grandmother story - I can't wait! Please don't die! *g*

Loely, lovely sea and sun!! I grew up beside the sea till I was 10 and when people do posts like this I realise how much I miss it.

I must re-read Lizzie's gorgeous stories. I really love them.

You are welcome! I have them saved on my hard drive - and on disc - because I am brilliant at forgetting titles and losing track of things. Thank you for writing!

What a brilliant blue the ocean is. I love the look of the buildings scattered about the hills, too.
