Aug 23, 2010 10:08

Yeay holidays - day two and three are sort of blurred together though, cos on Saturday night we stayed up all night in Bodmin Gaol! Oooh... *g* But before we did that... We went to Berry Pomeroy, which was a very cool ruined castle...

That was bsolutely fascinating - and that ruined castle is gorgeous!

I'm a complete unbeliever when it comes to actual spirits though I do think the atmosphere in places is influenced somehow by past events and of course atmosphere can have effects on people experiencing it. But the W13 group were very rude - if they wanted to giggle they should not have joined a group of people who seriously wanted to at least experience the darkness/mood/whatever and they should not have talked over the guide/medium talking. But I suppose they're the type who got away with it in school and have carried on like that in adult life! Either that or they were covering up desperate nerves. I'm so glad they split the groups for you ( ... )

I'm along the same lines as moth2fic re the idea of the supernatural (though I'm as susceptible as the next person to spooky darkness ... most of the time, anyway. I live in a place that minicab drivers and delivery people have referred to as "the spooky house" and sometimes refuse point-blank to come up to after dark) - but this sounds like a totally brilliant night (except for the pain-in-the-arse W13 lot). And I love those photos! What a disturbingly-beautiful, atmospheric place! Thanks for posting, it's always lovely to read about and see the places you've been!

It was fab, really well done - and I was surprised that things actually did happen that were fairly convincing too, cos I'm very hard to convince! Looking forward to Halloween though... *g*

I love the castle (obviously,) though I don't think I've ever heard of it before. From the amount of windows it has I'm imagining it's at least from the 16th century or later. More a manor or palace than an actual castle.

Ooh, and what spooky pictures! Especially the one with the black shape in it. I love ghost stories and horror movies so, though I don't actually believe in any of it, I'm not so sure if I would take this tour!

Originally a castle, but rebuilt etc - foxcat74 is the one to ask, as it's her favourite (and I can see why, it's a lovely old ruin) You must visit one day! *g*

And yeay for spooky pictures! I absolutely believe that there's a "rational" explanation for most things, but I do also believe that we don't yet know what all the rational explanations are, just as we didn't once know what electricity was, or sleep paralysis, and yet they still existed... So... the shadow came from somewhere, and the glass moved for some reason and that's what's interesting... *g* And exceedingly cool... *g*

Fab account! And the pictures were very spooky.

Ooh, I remember going to Berry Pomeroy when I was little. I'd forgotten all about it!

Have a great time with CC!

Oooh, that's all verrrry interesting.

I'm a bit of a sceptic when it comes to the supernatural but I do try to keep an open mind about most things and your account does make you think.

Whooooah!

That ghostly black fog near the pillory is quite fascinating, especially as you couldn't find a reasonable explanation for its presence ... so don't be bringing any malevolent spirits into my house, will you??

By the way, what are those two mediums S&M into then?

I'm absolutely a sceptic too - but I do think that there are things we don't yet recognise and/or understand yet, just as one day we didn't know about electricity and sleep paralysis etc...

And heee - the alternative was to call our mediums M & S, and that didn't quite have the same ring to it either... *g*
