Volunteering at the Community Blood Center

Dec 15, 2009 15:24

Well I did my volunteer thing at the Community Blood Center. While I was there I found out that a friend of mine is also volunteering there. Today was her first time/day. She seems to like and enjoy it very much. I do also.
I go every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month for now. Starting next month it will be every Tuesday.
Also I told the Volunteer manager if she has any blood drives I could help out with to let me know. She is checking into it.
They are very nice there.
She gave each of us (the volunteers)a little gift. A tea candle in a hanger/container. Mine is shaped like a bell (the container).
Tomorrow I will be doing my volunteer thing out at the hospital.

So no dinner at my daughter's for Christmas this year. They are going to make us breakfast instead.
I am not too happy/thrilled about it but they have other plans/obligations with my s-i-l's family this year.

Guess I better go to the Butterball website and find out how long it will take for the turkey I bought a few weeks ago to thaw. Yes-I've thawed turkeys and cooked them before but I don't remember. I know it's so much per lb and all that junk. :)

Well it's 29 degrees right now. This morning when I left it was about 34 or maybe only 32.
I think they said the temp would fall throughout the day. They were/are right!

I guess that's all for now.

I think I'll either read some more of the book I got I think it's called "In the Presidents Secret Service". Some of the stories they tell about the presidents .... well... you should read it. President Johnson was a real pig! Dirty old man he was!
I remember campaigning for him when I was a kid but how naive I was. He was one of our worst presidents!
Anyway I may read some more or finish watching O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Probably do both but not sure in what order.
