MacArthur Maze, fire, oakland

Apr 30, 2007 11:03

The Freeway burned and collapsed part of the MacArthur Maze
and we were in the hood so like good gawkers we went for a lookie loo.
Freeways fascinate me and this is one of the great flyover messes ever created,
the Maze connection leading to the Oakland Bay bridge,
this part being only a miniscule portion.

I only see metal like this in the North Bay Area,
and it makes me wonder of the connections
between Kaiser shipbuilding steel, transport,
and the California freeway system.
What a world that's sprung up right under our noses.

The collapsed part of the 580 interchange. The police wouldn't let the public
any closer.

The I-80 to  Interstate 580 and the 880 cross paths

Carbon Footprint anyone??
