One of the masterpieces of Indian art the Anantasayi Vishnu relief at Deogarh. Of all the things we planned on this trip to India this was the one single thing I wanted to see the most.
The relief carving is recessed in the Dasha Avatar Temple. The temple sits in a field surrounded by farmland in the remote village of Deogarh, Uttar Pradesh. We were the only visitors in this town of about 500 people when we saw the temple.
