Sibling Rivalry (subtitle: WTF?)

Not to be outdone by his sister, Joshua fell skiing today and was transported off the mountain in an ambulance.  There was a large contingent at the ski school pushing for helicopter evacuation, but the weather didn't permit it.  I had the unenviable opportunity to interpret my son's head CT (normal) because I was far and away the best-qualified person to do so in a very large geographic radius.  He was given a diagnosis of concussion, and told not to ski for the rest of the vacation.

For those of you keeping score at home, I have taken 3 of my immediate family members to the hospital within the past week.  I have interpreted a chest X-ray on my wife, a knee MRI on my daughter, and a head CT on my son.  (And this on top of driving to Maryland two weeks ago when my mother was admitted to the hospital for vomiting blood.)

Ask me how my vacation was.  Go ahead.  Ask.

I remind myself that no one had anything incurable, or that is likely to cause permanent damage.  I live a life of luxury compared to 99.99999% of the human population.  But I had a tough week, even by the average standards of human existence.
