Finally yesterday I was able to exit work at a reasonable time and still have enough energy to go to the grocery store to buy shredded cheddar cheese: 32 ounces for $7!
I also got two cans of Friskies cat food. Used the automated checkout stand and the machine said with each scanned can: "set aside." I thought this meant put in the bag, but it did not. Despite it beeping at me, the machine did not register the item. To check out required the attendent to look in. He didn't dispute the two cans and just overrode! So I got the cans for free.
Apparently the individual cans were not in the system. I obtained from one of several large boxes which had already been opened marked "Yum Yum Friskies." The one I picked was Friskies Indoor Cat White Fish with Garden Sauce.
That particular flavor was a big hit this morning with the cats: all ate their food completely and Goose and Venom had very little left over to eat from the other cats' bowls!
Anyway, I figure I owe Freddies $1.20 at least for the two cans. As I said to Marisa, "It'll come out in the wash," meaning that I will get overcharged at some point or have been overcharged by mistake: this will just balance things out.
Frankly, there was little Friskies canned cat food available yesterday, so this was my only alternative so we can get through this Saturday.
On the way back home there was this short woman standing at one corner of the car wash lot. She sounded like a female version of Popeye: a gravelly voice in an upper register. It looks like she pointed at me from across the lot and may have been attempting to get my attention. I just kept walking.
It sounded to me like she was following me for a while trying to talk with me. I just kept going. I was on a mission and I didn't know her, so acknowledging her was not important to me. Most likely all she wanted to do was hit me up for some money.
Got home, prepared the pots and pans and went upstairs to check my computer. From there I could hear Popeye yelling something indescriminately.
I then made macaroni and cheese with soy chorizo and sliced mushrooms. Mixing the au dente macaroni with cheese, milk and olive oil...then adding the cooked chorizo/mushroom mixture, took exactly 10 minutes: the most intensive part of the job. It was preceded by boiling water, adding the macaroni...and also in parallel squeezing out the chorizo into the pan, adding the pre-sliced mushrooms and olive oil, then cooking at medium temperature and occasionally moving around the contents: the boring part.
We watched The Handmaid's Tail, the 2nd episode of the 10th season of American Horror Story (Marisa had already seen it, she just wanted me catch up) and one of the best episodes of Star Trek: "The City on the Edge of Forever."
After that I filled a plastic container with the rest of the Macaroni and Cheese and prepared to go to bed. Eddie was on the bed as I attempted to straighten the sheets, then put on my pajamas. Venom lurked in the vicinity, at one point jumping on the bed and as quickly jumping off. I tucked myself in with my feet pushed in gently under the covers by Eddie, then turned off the light. I fell asleep almost immediately.
Next thing I remember waking up at 5:26 a.m. Pretty sure I roused a little at least once as I remember getting dry eye and attempting to recover (I wake up suddenly and my eyelid sticks to the eyeball, causing pain. I immediately close my eye and massage the eyelid and eye socket, then fall asleep. Sometimes, like this time, I later wake up without eye pain). I also had some innocuous dream about me still working, but being alone and in the UK investigating a place where I could retire and talking with a group of residents about my circumstances. The community had nicely trimmed lawns and shrubs and people walking around between brick buildings in a courtyard. I looked around then went inside one building to sit in chairs arranged in a circle. That is where I "explained myself."
After feeding the cats, drinking my first cup of coffee, and taking my three pills, I checked the news on my computer. I read about racism in Ashland, Oregon, so posted a link to it on Facebook it so bothered me.
I also worked on correcting meta tags on my digital images of my movie glass slide collection. I finished tagging all my images this morning! Next: make all slides "manhattan." I have done many of them, but some still need it. Others need a lot of work. Hope to find some good cardboard frame images representing different manufacturers and save those separately. I will attempt to document which cardboard frame manufacturer was used for each movie, then use that information to guess which generic frame I can use for those slides which don't have frames: the 30 or so I most recently purchased, a few others and a bunch of Mack Sennett glass pieces which were sliced horizontally (not only without frames, but without part of the original glass). I will attempt to find online digital representations I can use to help restore my images, otherwise will present the missing parts in an appropriate background color).
