Puns and groceries

Marisa and I had a nice warm up before watching Star Trek Voyager (we are in the first season) last night: we watched an Eddie Izzard stand-up show in San Francisco, California preceded by a little bit showing a cable car going down the hill to the Alcatraz pier, making up little stories about the anonymous crowd of folks on the car and the operator. The show itself was a series of memories, history refreshers and made up stories and linkages. My favorite part was when he compared the joyous spirituals from worshippers who had been forced to live a downtrodden existence to the bored almost dead hymns from congregants who had money and power. It was titled "Dress to Kill" from 1999. Funny!

I missed part of it while I prepared my dinner of burgers and tater tots.

After Eddie was finished we watched Star Trek Voyager...about Seska and the Kayzon. Marisa said "And the Kazon go rolling along" at some point...good pun! We also learned that the Kaylo was a poisonous apple-like fruit on a Delta Quadrant planet. More than one of these were Kaylos, of course. So you can think of me as Byron "Delta Quadrant Poisonous Apple" if you want!

Then, before going to bed, Marisa watched the last five minutes of some horror movie where this bloodied guy with a hammer and this woman with a croquet mallet battle each other in a forest and on a frozen lake. At some point the woman aims to strike him with her mallet but gets her with his hammer. My line was "With mallets toward none..."

I got a polite groan from Marisa.

Yesterday I attempted to donate all our discards to the local Goodwill, but they only could accept two bags per household. The rest is still sitting in my truck, filling the bed.

Then, after 5 p.m., I put away all the containers and glasses and mugs and dishes in the draining area (they had been there a week, so were dry) and sent to Freddies by way of the Key atm. Got everything except for a character USB for Marisa's record transfers and shredded wheat cereal: Freddies had neither.
