Set up for work outside

To-day I did not plan to do a lot, so I met my plan!

I did take care of the kitty litter situation: cleaned the large kitty litter tray, vacuumed all around in the dining room, set up the 2nd kitty litter tray and put down the new pad.

We had three bags full of spent kitty litter and two empty boxes of litter, so put the litter into an outside trash can for later disposal, broke down the boxes by stomping on them, and recycled the boxes.

I removed a bunch of flickweed and broadleaf weeds in Marvin's Garden and on the park strip. Also I dug up the irises still in the wrong place and transplanted them to the new location (the irises there are thriving). I took retaining wall blocks to better plan the tetherball circle: I should have just enough to do that once I move the wood.

Also I hand dug a little of the area where I will dig the hole for the gate post. Hoping to do that to-morrow.

Mowed the side yard. The grass is really not high enough to mow. What the side yard could really use is a trim along the sidewalk. I need to find that one tool with a semi-circular blade mounted on a long handle.

The Oregon grape and the pink flowering current is doing well. I also see the bleeding hearts are starting to emerge in Delbert's Garden.

The heuchera in Spalding's Corner look really bad. I don't know if they will do well this year.

Meanwhile I found a red leafed volunteer along the north side walkway: could it be a Heuchera which propagated?

Some plant in a pot sitting on the back deck is blooming, even though the stems look dead! How could this be?

There are blooms on a little bush just east of the cat cemetary. Too dark to really view, I will make a point to check it out to-morrow during the day.

The weather to-day was wonderful. I started late, but was able to work until dawn, which was around 7 p.m. It will get even better in the coming days.

It was really nice to do a little digging and cleaning around the house...and get to sleep in. Glad I took it off as a vacation day. I will also be off on Monday.
