Committed to San Francisco California

Planning for my sabbatical has started in earnest.

I made all the major reservations for a trip to San Francisco California which we will do during the first half of the sabbatical. We will have a car, a motel room and access to BART. Also passes to an all day silent movie event at The Castro!

One more reservation to make: ferry transportation to Alcatraz!

Among the places we expect to visit:

[] Alcatraz
[] Pier 33 (where the Ferry docks in San Francisco for Alcatraz)
[] Maritime Museum (r)
[] Cable Car
[] Lands End
[] Portals of the Past (Golden Gate Park)
[] Japanese Tea Garden (Golden Gate Park) (r)
[] Statues of Robert Burns, others (Golden Gate Park)
[] Windmills (Golden Gate Park)
[] Buffalo (Golden Gate Park)
[] The deYoung Museum (Golden Gate Park)
[] Mission Delores (r)
[] Other nearby missions from the late 18th Century and early 19th Century
[] Niles Essanay Museum, Fremont, California
[] Computer History Museum, Mountain View, California
[] City Lights bookstore
[] Coit Tower (r)
[] The Columbarium
[] Haight-Ashbury district
[] The "tiny park"
[] The Presidio cemetery
[] SFMOMA
[] Fort Point
[] Berkeley California
[] San Rafael

(r) means I have been there and have photographic evidence: just want more.

I don't expect we will do anything our first day, but do want to start out right away the following day. We will have four days to pack in as much as we can. Most likely we will use public transportation to get around. The car is for the final day, really, although we might want to drive to Marin County.

Marisa also has several people she would like to visit.
