Bid this week on movie inserts and won a few.
I was mostly indiscriminate, bidding $5 on all movie inserts not yet bid.
There were a few I bid low because I really wasn't sure I wanted them. A few I outright rejected. One I bid $10 (High Road to China).
The total change is interesting:
Sunday: $133, $1/insert
Monday: $156
Tues. morning: $188
Tues. evening: $274 (92)
Wed. early morning: $(92)
Wed. 9 a.m.: $283 (89)
Wed. 7 p.m.: (78) = 5x16 + 5x16 + 4x13 + 4x2 + 3x4 + 3x0 + 2x0 + 2x0 +7
= 80 + 80 + 52 + 8 + 12 + 7
= 160 + 72 7
= 239 + 100 - 32 - 15 -5
= 239 + 100 - 52
= 239 + 48
= $287 ($3.68/insert)
Thu. 6 a.m.: (73) = $219 to $292 (no time to get a break down, but about half at 5, the other half at 1).
Thu. 7:40 a.m. (60) = $290 (estimate, most items at $5, few $1)
Thu. 8 a.m. (76) = $340 (estimate) I added bids on inserts which were sub-$5.
Then, by the afternoon, it seemed like most were outbid.
The original total of 133 x $1 could have meant going all the way to $650 or so, but, as expected, many went above my bid, thus lowering the number.
Some, however, just increased the amount per poster, thus the increase in dollars even as the number of posters dropped.
Didn't expect to go to $400 and didn't.
In fact, thought that most of the posters would be outbid. $5 posters...pretty low. Yet, I did have a $10 bid on one, so thought I would get some lesser known posters. And I was right. I got 28 posters. From 133 to 28...about a 4th of what I started with, which again, I figured would happen...at a cost only a little less per insert than my max bid.

So this comes to $4.86 per insert, which is pretty good. I think it is a pretty good range of movies, although I have really only seen two: Continental Divide and High Road to China. I've seen parts of Charly and Verdict. The rest: nada.
Would be interesting to put up Young Philadelphians next to Verdict...Paul Newman as a lawyer in both.
I found interesting that any movies related to Woody Allen were ignored by most, but someone besides me finally went for them. Show how far Woody Allen's star has fallen. I think I was bidding on Stardust Memories, Manhattan and The Front. All were at one dollar until Thursday afternoon when at least one bidder went beyond my max bid of $5 per poster.
Where will these go? I am going to clean out part of our basement during my sabbatical and set up our large LCD screen there with alternative hdmi input. If it works, I extend the life of the tv for another purpose. I would decorate with framed insert posters. I also have some Australian posters a little smaller.
If it doesn't work, I still clean out part of the basement.
