I signed up to-day for a bottle redemption program BottleDrop. It costs 55 cents a bag. In other words for six of the bottles or cans I redeem I don't get a deposit returned to me. On the other hand, if I arrive at the redemption center with a bag of containers and I have to wait for a machine, I save time by essentially giving the center six containers.
As each bag can have at least six containers (closer to 40, 20 if glass), I will still get some money on my account.
Then, if I accumulate 35 dollars of deposits in my account, I get 20 percent more. That is 350 containers which would probably take us a couple of years to generate.
This part is unclear to me. The woman at the center said I would get the 20% once I accumulate $35 but the online instructions do not mention this.
So what I will do is this: accumulate enough bottles and cans to fill a bag, then take it to the center Saturday morning (the center was suprisingly accessible to-day). If I can get in to a machine immediately, I will empty the bag and get money for the deposits: not use the account. If I have to wait, I slap the sticker on and turn in the full bag.
