A 28 foot drive way will definitely impact the stairwell bumpout and where I put the gate.
So I have an alternate plan on the bumpout.
* to avoid hitting the head we turn the 2nd floor closet into built in drawers or shelves, then cut a slope into the ceiling above the first floor. This gives better clearance as you walk upstairs.
* the entire backroom is lifted, stuff under the backroom is removed, new basement space created there and steps addition added to side with access door and ramp.
As a result: gain useful area in the basement, fix overhead issue on stairs, phase those changes, allow work on floor in entry way immediately...and on stairs, then can do back room.
Negatives: lose full closet in upstairs room, don't get to do a continual walk.
I like the phased approach.
If we do go ahead with this need to scope out the back room costs.
We could skip the new basement under thing...but that has so much potential.
What I worry about is loss of the roof on the back room we already have.

driveway,
stairs,
