Island in Marvin's Garden A Sliver of its Former Self

Feb 25, 2017 22:52

Pulled more dirt off the island over the Heating Oil Tank down to the new grade. The sod was transferred to the area bordering the walkway. As I dug in I discovered that pea gravel was used over most of the HOT. I dug out as much as I could without destabilizing anything and hauled the gravel away into piles I can re-use when creating pathways. This created a gap which I filled with the extra I removed from the island.

I have about 14 inches left over about 7 feet to remove: first the sod, then the clay soil.

To-day I also restacked the bricks right next to the sidewalk so I can get the slope correct into Marvin's Garden.

We'll see what I can do to-morrow.

landscaping, marvin's garden, digging, front yard, oil
