* Monday holiday--worked on digging.
* Tuesday work until 7 p.m. in office. Ate Amy's and went to bed at 8:30 p.m.
* Wednesday woke at 3 a.m., 5:15 a.m. at office, 5:35 a.m. bus to airport, left at 10 a.m. to California, 2 hour meeting, 2:30 p.m. cab to airport, 3:15 - 4:45 airflight back home, 5:15 pm at office, 5:20 drove back home, 5:55 p.m. at home.
* Thursday work from home to recover from ordeal. Finally got one important task done for the "new initiative" after finally getting some key information requested last Friday (I had to restate my request to-day).
* Friday work from home to do utility locate. Guy arrived early (10:30 a.m.) but found the water line (in middle of north side yard with curve to basement right by heat exchanger. Sewer line undetermined. Cost $75. Sent agreement for Heating Oil Tank removal (cost $2,000).
* Made a little progress at work but I am not happy: would have liked to do more. We got an important release out, I helped fix a build script bug and I did an interim fix on a stretch handle bug for a tap in our leading regular process. I feel overwhelmed at all the stuff I have to do while simultaneously being asked by my boss to do more on this new initiative I really got into late December. It is good to be in demand, but I have to find a way to succeed at what I am doing simultaneously.
* Went to a variety benefit show Friday night at a little place off the North park blocks in Portland: Marisa was performing and was quite impressive as she did a routine to Esquivel's Besame Mucho. I was really tired but had the hummus board and cranberry juice...just nodded off during intermission.
* Saturday. Sleep difficult: Cirrus's ear is hurting too much and he is restless and complaining. At 2 a.m. I got the cat carrier. We tried to comfort Cirrus then fell asleep, Cirrus was again restless and complaining but we were exhausted. So instead of going to some early a.m. emergency pet hospital we waited until 8 a.m. to call our local clinic and got an emergency appointment for 9 a.m. Cirrus definitely has an ear infection in his right ear and we will treat that for the next two weeks and go back for a follow-up on Mar. 11. Cost of this visit, around $250.
* To-day I will do more digging to get rid of the island and truly establish the grade for HOT removal restoration. Then will dig as I can to make the basin deeper so as to move the slope starting point closer to the sidewalk. This may be the only decent weather in at least a week. I really want to finish this, but the lack of sleep and the recovery from stress means I am going to take this at my own pace and not focus on doing everything I would otherwise want to accomplish.
* A couple of weeks ago the motion sensor hooked up to the bathroom cat water fountain broke. I didn't get a new one, so let the fountain run all the time. Marisa this morning complained about the sound, so we will have to try that again (note: the thing works but is very sensitive about being dropped).
* Our 2nd smoke/carbon monoxide detector failed this week. A year or so ago the first one failed (in the basement). The 3rd one, on the 2nd floor, is still going. All were purchased in 2009 (?) to meet requirements for housing a senior with health issues, Betty. At the time we also purchased fire extinguishers. I wasn't worried too much about replacing the basement detector, but the dining room detector is really important.
* Ebay and Amazon purchases down, but into following a new family with photos. George Krause is the main person for documentation (he was a Food buyer-seller) but Clarice Amundson Krause, her sisters, parents and their daughter, Jean, are the focus for the photos. For now trying to get all the immediate family (George, Clarice, Jean) but will try to do more over time. The seller is moving unsold pictures to Buy it now so may get a few every month from that set if I feel I can fit in the narrative. Unfortunately have no documentation on the Amundson's in Scotts Mills, Oregon. More likely I can expand the narrative by looking at Stayton High School where Clarice's sister worked as a teacher (from what I could tell). Also would like to figure out where the buildings are to see if they still exist and discover where they were.
* Back room is still relatively unjunky and hope to keep it that way. It was much easier to get the cat carrier for Cirrus this morning as a result. Also, despite all this wet weather I did not see water infiltration, which may mean my efforts to keep water away from the foundation is working.
