Put in about 3 hours from 10 to 1, then had lunch for an hour and a half, then put in another 2 hours before I gave up: my arm muscles had given up.
So, on the second day, I did less than the first day. However, I got past the sand/gravel mix and finished a good section of the trench along the walk way.
Tomorrow I will try to connect that trench section with the front section through a curve.
If I can do that I can leave the last part of the U until later. Once I get to the top part I don't need to continue immediately and can wait until next weekend, for instance. I would like to complete to not leave roots exposed for too long.
The shoveling is probably the roughest part, so once I get past that it is more procedural.
1. Rake, tamp, level until I find the 3 inch mark for the 2nd level.
2. Put in the drainage outlet and t section and connect.
3. Pour in the gravel for the 1st level and level it.
4. Cover with landscape fabric.
5. Add lower drainage to drainage outlet.
6. Rake, tamp, level until the 3 inch mark for the 3rd level.
7. Pour in gravel for 2nd level and level it.
8. Cover with landscape fabric.
9. Repeat steps 6-8 as many times as terracing is needed.
10. Add upper level drainage to T connection.
11. Add sand to 1st level, then level it.
12. Add blocks to 1st level and make sure all blocks are correct and level.
13. Repeat steps 11-12 for all sections.
