Today I made good progress on the soakage trench. While not finished, I would consider that a milestone was reached today when I completed the pipe side fill with concrete shards, mortar and brick fragments...and filled in with gravel. Then I was able to cover the rocks and pipe with landscape fabric and shovel back in clay dirt I had removed at least a month ago.
Managed to finish shoveling from the one pile five wide and ten feet long between the trench and the flower garden/cat cemetary.
To finish filling the trench I need to shovel from the other pile to the north of the trench.
A reminder: I began digging the soakage trench on November 19, 2023. So that is more than 5 months with December, January and February not open for work. The city approved the drainage system in April. Once I complete filling in everything and removing the gravel, it will complete that project.
What's next?
I will work from home this week and maybe get some additional work done, otherwise will pick this up on Saturday (weather permitting).
[] Fill the trench.
[] Cut the pipe and remove it.
[] fill remaining trenches.
[] add thin landscape fabric in several layers on the Circle.
[] move gravel to the Circle.
[] gather remaining river rock.
[] rake out rocks from back yard.
This completes the drainage project started in November 2023!
Then, onto amending the soil and completing the back yard.
[] dump the compost.
[] excavate Byron Hill 2 and mix with compost.
[] wind the hose and put at the front of the house.
[] put pipe pieces on the north pile
[] remove poke, blackberry from LBT and the garden fence buffer.
[] when I locate or receive the branch chipper: chip the branches.
[] finish the scalloped edging.
[] shovel up dirt in back yard to remove plastic grid.
[] add compost dirt mixture along scalloped edging.
[] continue doing this in rows until the walkway is reached, marking with a waddle or two.
[] plant!
Then do some hardscaping and using or removing materials.
[] move bricks and hewn stones to represent a roughed-in walkway.
[] set up rain barrel pedestals.
[] complete driveway.
[] setup bench in the northeast corner.
[] remove stuff in LBT.
[] remove north stuff.
[] remove south stuff.
[] fix posts on south side.
[] add big posts on east side.
[] add railing and pickets for back fence.
[] finish back fence (except for gates).
[] move bricks by circle to front area.
