Today was great weather so easy to go out and do whatever made the most sense.
Armed with a shovel, a rake, a compost bin, clippers and a pail, I worked to re-arrange the back yard with the goal to finish the drainage excavation, recondition the soil and plant groundcover.
As the city wants LBT cleared, I am also intend to at least do rough hard-scaping using materials I pulled to get ready for the backroom project last year.
Part one of my shards work is done: I pulled all shards from The Circle and dumped them into the soakage trench.
Part two is tomorow: I will pull all concrete pieces from LBT for rough assembly in the patio. Anything not being used will go into the soakage trench.
Then I redistribute the shards and fill in to the top of the pipe on both sides with gravel, add landscape fabric and then bury! I will probably do one test before I add the fabric. I won't be able see much but should hear enough to know it is still working. My hope is the shards will hold the pipe in place once buried.
Today I also cut and dug out black berries and trimmed saved branches. The compost bin is full, so what I couldn't put in the bin, I piled at the back corner. Byron Hill 2 is now ready for excavation. I plan on mixing it with compost for the backyard soil.
Further refined the corner by LBT: moved the rest of the grass to the corner and started the scalloped border. There is now an area I could start amending with compost and then planting!
