Slow days at work as Memorial Day approaches

Yesterday no one responded to my email about problems I had with a setup, so I started "fixing" issues I encountered (which took me most of the day!).

Then I let the coordinator of our releases know about it and he was not happy. I felt I had no choice and worried it was a larger problem.

It wasn't a larger problem. It was due to me using an outmoded entry in the setup line when I now got help after wasting hours on debugging this and getting no response to my queries.

In retrospect, this is something I should have caught. When the setup is done for you through a regression: no issue. When I did the setup, an issue. I actually tried several things with one part of the setup, but it hadn't occured to me that the setup line "model" I used was outmoded.

As I pointed out, the setup half-worked. It would have been better if it it didn't work at all, then it would have been more clear.

My manager cancelled a one-on-one with me this week. He said he would reschedule, but didn't. I feel somehow abandoned.

Abandoned, too, at home: Marisa is keeping odd hours as she gets involved in drag performance. Also, the weather is not cooperative for my work outside.

I did accomplish one thing yesterday that I feel good about: I added a utility to a menu. Had to create a unique way of finding the insertion point.

Also confirmed when we would get regression results: Tuesday morning. So if I am to get anything done on other tasks, now is the time. I won't try to follow-up on regression testing until then.

It was another great, nail-biting episode of Star Trek: Discovery last night: the penultimate episode of the series! Marisa missed it, but I think we can watch it again next week so we can go from it right to the very end with the final episode then available.

Evil's 3rd and final season is now available on Paramount+. Dune Part 2 is also now available (on Max). Invasion is confirmed for its 2nd season beginning in August (I remember Aug. 23, but can be anything).

The gas bill check was processed yesterday. The electric bill was sent the day after, so maybe it will be processed today?

Out of apples, cashews...will be out of canned catfood after Saturday morning. So, groceries will be needed.

Garbage garbage day: I got all our cans out this morning before 6 a.m.!

The bed sheets are messed up on my side of the bed: I will need to fix that!

Keeping up on maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen table, but the sink is full of soaking cat food cans and everywhere else stacks of dirty dishes and plastic containers.

Received an Enid Bennett card which is similar to the pose she did for the poster. One Portland poster restorer wouldn't touch a restoration. Like our stairs, I may just have to learn about the craft and do it myself.

I got the email about garbage garbage day yesterday. It also had details about the tool library. Why didn't I think of that? The library has electric miter saws! Instead of spending $500 for one, I can rent one from the North Portland tool library in Kenton. I need to set up a membership soon.

Tried to set up a skin scan with Kaiser, as they had specifically asked me to do this...but on-line did not allow me to set it up with Dermatology. I called yesterday. The guy mumbled something about the schedule not ready yet, which is why I had problems on-line...and why he couldn't help me right now. He said that should be cleared up on Tuesday and would call back.

I am not so worried, but figured I could set it up for mid-July at the earliest and maybe get help with the warts on my right index finger: they are really annoying and probably my biggest health complaint. I am bothered by the constant soreness in my right arm and my ability to do strenuous hiking (uphill). My hair is thinning and my facial skin is drooping. My finger nails are becoming brittle. My toe nails are becoming ultra thick. So, yeah, things that happen with aging. Otherwise I am fine.
