Election and visitors

Did not get to go outside today. The weather was cooperative, but the window of opportunity for me to get dressed was too small: Marisa slept in, woke up, and then went back to sleep. During the time that she was up I should have took time to get dressed, but thought I would have more time later.

At work I finished testing and adjusting a test, enhanced a utility, held a meeting and then, using the meeting guidance, made my first step toward putting the utility on a menu. I also attending a training meeting which was interesting and I encouraged that we get information on potential test verification planning.

With Memorial Day holiday approaching there are several people leaving early. One person is on sabbatical for June, starting after Memorial Day.

A third person in as many weeks came by to offer death spray for pests. I flat out told him he was the third representative of a company to come by with that offer and that I refused the other two already. "I am not interested." He said "this is to protect your house," to which I said "my house has been here for more than a century without this."

These in-person sales people always try to butter up the person who answers the door. This guy asked about how long I have had long hair (a couple of decades) and seemingly admired that. He carried around a computer and was on a Segway. Last week this guy came by. He said something nice about my drainage work in the back. The week before there was a guy who signed me up to get a roof estimate for House70...he liked my Intel bunnysuit people which can be seen at the front door.

Also Gwendolyn Brooks was by with Tatiana to spread the word of Jehovah with Marisa. Gwendolyn lives across the alley. She and her husband, Lou-Gary Brooks, will be moving soon to Lake Oswego.

I got word from the county election office that my ballot was accepted and counted 22 hours after I dropped it off at the ballot box yesterday! Seems most of the elections were already decided (all but my Secretary of State selection lost). I also voted against the Zoo funding, but it seems to be passing by a small margin (the other funding measures I voted yes and those are passing more easily). However, my vote counts in deciding who the number two County commissioner candidate will be. I voted for Sam Adams and he is barely ahead of some other guy. Whomever edges out the other will go to the General Election to face the top vote getter, Shannon. It is an open seat vacated by S. Jayapal who ran unsuccessfully for Congress (lost to Maxine Dexter who got a huge influx of money from anti-Palestinian special interests).
