Got an update from Reed regarding the carpentry in the back room.
They will finish the treads today and move their equipment so I can walk back there (just no guard rail, so I will be careful walking around that!).
There was a ledge with a little notch. Reed says he intends to fill that with the best match from the fir scrap.
Their intent is to fill any gaps properly and sand up to, I think he said 102 grit...but that I should check with the stain manufacturer what would be the recommended sanding grit to use before staining.
They will finish treads and leave, then return Monday but not Tuesday, then Wednesday and Thursday.
We should get the newel posts on Thursday, according to an email received yesterday from Poest.
Most likely the carpenters will have to return early the following week to finish the guard rail and stair railing.
The coordinator, Leda, won't be here that week, so she will try to schedule the painter and electrician based on best estimates for completion. The painter wants all trim down before he goes ahead. The electrician needs everything else done and the paint dry before he installs light fixtures, switches, outlets and plates.
Will the inside of the house be ready before the end of the year? It is possible, but seems improbable, especially if the newel posts don't show up on time. If they do show up, then the carpenters would need to estimate their time of completion perfectly, and then the painter also show up and finish as scheduled...likewise the electrician.
