The Language of Blazon

What is a bear doing on the internet?  Well, some of you may be aware that I am a performing bear and I have often found it interesting how the period dwellers of the Renaissance much enjoy having me walking among them and they dress fancy, I'm almost always a bare bear but decided to rise to the occasion of both pomp and circumstance.

So, off I go on a digital ride searching the internet on the subject and I suddenly discover a new language which has been in use all the way through the Renaissance across the continent and on the island states. It's called heraldry which language is Blazon and it's speech emblazon!  Darn, no one ever explained that word to me before, I just went around using it.

I should have asked Susi (waves a paw vigorously @ Susi) to sew this.  I called up our artist and asked for the design, get this, of Gules a Bear Rampant Sable Dexter and in bend two Or bordour!

Wow could you read that? It just goes to show you there is stuff to be learned by trying to understand what you see around you which you notice and don't register. What does it mean?? Well, that's the kind of thing a bear does when he's playing with the internet because his hammock is broken and he's not working. That's not entirely so but I like to keep up the air of someone who doesn't work.

What about a bear's right to bear arms?  I've been ennobled in three separate centuries, there's even pictures of it out here on the web to prove it!!   I had expected to do another thing in the July and August framework but it fell through as to make it impossible to make a booking, so instead I've been looking to fill up my September and October having a spot in each of those and for that event I intended to show my coat of arms.  Having the design fixed and deciding upon color I connived my neighbor into doing this project (Susi, I should have decided upon you for this task) and, voi'la, it's done but I don't get to wear it just immediately. I've actually been doing something while trying to look like I wasn't.

I firmed up a deal for the weekend of the 20th in September. So I am time traveling back to the 1400's again.  September is now booked and I'm working on the spot in October.

In September a bear will bear arms.  I bore them before, but had assumed them because I just loved that snazzy red, it is smashing against my black fur.  On the website I have a little animated gif where I've assumed a Cardinal's guard tabard. Having had the sword placed on my neck in three separate centuries without losing my head, I'm entitled to my own coat of arms and now I've got an occasion to use it =)

That took up a bit of time, now it's time for chores and a walk in the woods, the internet can rest and be safe from bears for a little while.  If you read this, you've being trying to not look busy too, huh?
