I'm sure lots of you have sacred places you go. Mine is Mnt Scott in Oklahoma, down near Lawton. I took some tobacco ties up there before going to the Ren faire, and while it's one of the harder Ren Faires, it was a spiritual journey. Such Journeys are never easy but they always bring something into your life worth the while. Naturally we saw a lot of friends down there and now there is some time off as we don't have anything booked until near the end of August. I haven't worked on bookings, the wrangler wants us to cut back on bookings so that we might be offered some better wages (all of which go towards conservation of my relatives, the bears).
Even so, it was a spiritual journey worth more than money can provide. I'm not sure that I have an agreement yet with the wrangler to continue working with me and keep me out of trouble when I'm out in public next year, but much of his fervor returned during this faire and some of those, 'way cool' experiences were pretty powerful.
I had a 'sign' from Mother Bear, that's the name I give to my Spirit Guardian, she sent her bird. (she's fond of redwing blackbirds) early on Sunday and it was a sign like, something cools' going to happen. This particular faire there was no King or Queen, but, a pair Henry V. were brought in Sunday to have a special beknighting of both of us, a special ceremony, done by petition of the performers and vendors, to have that take place. Was pretty fun, honorable, and a punctuation for my wrangler as to how much he is valued by people. I suppose as well for myself, so, in SW OK we also hold the 'titles' now = )
A follower of Golden Dawn made a special effort to recognize us, a very nice couple too awarding us both 'the office of the ten of pentacles' and pledged to give to the foundation, which we both found very nice and appreciated. These days making a non-profit organization work, is tough, especially in an election year where moneys are going to political goals.
I think the wrangler once again found merit in our tasks, replacing him is not something I really want to so, I'd rather have a steady wrangler but it appears still that there are times I will need to rely on other folks to work with me. Curtis is intent on trying to do something, beyond appearances at events, to help us succeed. On that subject, a few applicants to be substitute wrangler have come forward, we should see some of them at Whitehart, so...Suzy, you might remember this and mention it to Di, if you want us to pay their way in, we will, their task for the foundation though, is to learn how to wrangle a bear and them showing up over our two weekends at Whitehart, would be important to us that it happen.
Scarletfests Robert and Angela came also on sunday and greeted us, we'll prolly make that one this January. We can only go every two years to that faire because I get re-furred every two years (I moult less frequently than most other bears. Was great seeing folks, was definately a spiritual journey and now we're both pretty excited about seeing folks at Whitehart.
Hugs for you all, hope to see you all soon. Oh, there was a cool picture, now how do I add it. Here it is, I couldn't upload it because I haven't paid for an account so here's the link of me playing with a young boy who was playing bear with me.
