I have the same problem, my office is business-casual all the time. And its finance so we know we're not exactly dealing with the most liberal people. I know that as much as I'd love to they wouldn't let me wear that skirt to work either. :( Unless it was on Friday. Nobody has ever said a damn thing about what I wear on Fridays, thank god!
I find the best way to go is with fairly plain clothes and awesome accessories! No one has ever complained about my PVC bow barrettes with skulls on them!
