Weekend Wrapup

Friday: I was bored and frustrated at work, so I sent out an email to try to drum up interest in doing something social on Friday. Andrej and John responded. Drej and I wolfed down some stuffed peppers and headed over to John's to watch a couple movies. They were Time Bandits and The Hudsucker Proxy. I liked Bandits, though I think I would have liked it more if I'd seen it first as a kid. Hudsucker, on the other hand, was awesome. I really, really liked it (though I had to finish it the next day at home due to sleepiness).

Saturday: John had his semi-annual Game Night. Attendees were George, Audrey, Andrej, Mike and two former Fordhamites: John and Mike. So yes, two Johns, two Mikes and two As. John had his arcade game set up as WELL as Dance Dance Revolution! DDR is soooo fun. I went from horrible to decent, and it's amusing and a great workout. I wasn't too interested in the arcade portion of the festivities, but we managed to play a zillion board games instead: Flux, Apples to Apples, and Family Business, namely. John made really good meatball subs, and I brought strawberry brie bruschetta to be vaguely French for Bastille day. At 3 a.m., Andrej, George and I still remained, and it was decided that there would be a viewing of BASEketball, but I wasn't conscious for too much of it. The three of us ended up crashing.

Today: Has been interesting...I bought a gas grill! It was a somewhat epic purchase (particularly getting it home, stopping somewhere else for a cover and tank...Andrej wins Devoted Friend Award for stopping over on his epic bike ride home from work to help me assemble it (and to go with me to Harris Teeter when we figured out my propane tank was empty, etc.). The discovery is, though, that the backyard's really the only suitable place to simultaneously store it and cook on it. But it's a TOTAL JUNGLE. So my latest project, which will begin tonight and likely take quite amount of effort, is to clean out the foilage to make room. There is poison ivy. There are bugs. This is a big job that I'm not used to doing, and I'm never gardened. Expect some hijinks to follow.
