Day 35
Weight: 210 lbs
Thought for the Day: Sometimes you feel like a nut...
I have been having a daily dosage of nuts for a mid-morning snack. I mix walnuts, almonds and some peanuts for flavor. Call me nuts but, I have found that the fat, protein and fiber in the nuts has helped me feel full longer enabling me to eat less and feel less deprived or dieting. It has really made a difference and stopped cravings, depravity and always thinking about food. Though the nuts have a higher fat content than other stuff, it is mostly unsaturated so I feel it has benefits.
I looked up some nutty nutrition and found Almonds to be at the top of the list for nutrient density (or a healthy punch).
- Almonds - i can eat these all day
- Filberts (hazelnuts) - i like em, except you need to drink soy milk or water with them
- Peanuts - always great without salt
- Chestnuts - i get squeamish around nut crackers, no thanks
- Pistachios - these always tasty like mildew to me, yuck
- Walnuts - i like em when they aren't bitter
- Cashews - good eatin
- Pecans - yuck, and yuck to pecan pie too
- Macadamias - they are ok, sometimes to sweet for me
- Brazil - these can taste good or bad, but they are full of fat
Almond:
166 calories
5 grams protein
14 grams fat (90% unsaturated)
4 grams of fiber
80 mg of calcium
Vitamin E
Iron, Zinc and other heavy earth metals
So I am gonna continue to eat my nuts! (ok that sounded really bad), a co-worker brought in cookies for everyone (but me) today, I actually have had no cravings for processed sugar or other bad carbs.
