Been a busy couple of weeks that are only now slowing down, so i can catch up on my RPG blogging. I had the brilliant idea to take the GREs in the middle of the end of semester work crunch, so on top of projects and papers I had 2 weeks to study for the GREs as well. I did fine though and now most of the work is behind me until finals.
That said, due to the work there hasn't been enough time for gaming as I'd like but that should change this weekend. Still the girls did have one game sinc I last posted. They have finally reached the end of their river journey. On the last leg from Great Forks to their disembarkation point they ran afoul of the Balkany good time of the Hundred Kingdoms. A petty kingdom of Roostar attempted to collect a toll from their ship. When they did not comply (and the girls stole the customs official's jaunty feathered hat) they set the Beast of Roostar on the ship and crew.
The beast was in fact a rooster who had grown to immense sizes somehow. After subduing the beast, Pale Winter remembered she had a charm to talk to animals. The Rooster told her it's tragic story and they decided to take it with them as a bonded servant (the rooster fancied itself a knight-errant.) Their next stop was a minor fishing village with an Immaculate Temple. And we all know what happens when a bunch of raucous anathema get too close to an immaculate temple right?
Consequently they got their first taste of Exalt on Exalt violence. I kept it lower key since there wouldn't be any 5th coil masters in this part of the world but the Fire Aspect Monk acquitted himself well enough. We ran into a bit of trouble when the abstraction of combat narrative ran afoul of the mechanics. Old Scratch stunted pouncing on the immaculate and taking his head between her jaws. She didn't do enough damage to kill him so the end result was her in lynx form crouched on the monk's shoulders with her jaws around his head and him struggling to rid himself of his new, lynx-shaped hat. In hindsight I should have made it an opposed clinch but...well nobody likes the clinching rules do they? In the end Scratch did enough damage to take his head off but not before sustaining some burns to her mouth from the monk's anima.
I'm wondering how it will go when they finally have to fight an actual Celestial. They're headed into very dangerous territory after all and as any of you who played with me on Moirae know, I always believe in Exalts, especially Celestials, being able to live up to their own hype. Still working on what'll go down next game. Hopefully I haven't scared them with all this ;-)
The guys game has been off track due to IRL interference. It should be back on for this coming Tuesday. I have some especially evil plans for them since one player made the mistake of thinking they were in the light hearted game.
