Classes....

My ME department orientation went well, really wide range of Acoustics courses. I find myself wanting to take more of the classes than is necessary for my degree! But here's the best part...

CLASS SCHEDULE - Fall 2009

Tuesday & Thursday

ME 4760: Intro to Acoustics & Noise Control: 8:05 - 9:25am
ME 6601: Intro to Fluid Mechanics: 9:35 - 11:00am

THATS IT!

Most grad programs in engineering are 30 credits total, with 9 being from your thesis. Do the math, so 21 credits = 7 courses (all 3 credits each). 4 semesters to do it, so its about 2 per semester. The equivalency is that 3 grad courses is like taking 5 undergrad courses. Depending on the first week or so, I might try to add another class, since I'm taking one senior level undergrad class and a class I already took at State...

Anyways, Atlanta is going good, I put in an application for health insurance today (ugh) and my new car insurance kicks in on my birthday. It seems to be the general expectation in the department that everyone who is doing research (for MS thesis or PhD) will have some sort of funding, so that's good for me. I'm anxious to get started, so we'll so how the semester goes!

In other news, rumor has it that Otis Wiley has signed a contract with the NY Giants, Hoyer is probably going to be on the Practice squad for the Pats, and Javon Ringer is still a badass.

Glenn Winston was reinstated to the football team and I can't say I agree. He got involved in a fight, whatever the reason, and directly because of his actions, a kid ended up with a subdureal hematoma (sp?). I mean, I can't say I have an informed opinion, Sturges might have made himself a target in this fight, but just knowing the bare skeleton of the story kind of says to me that he was an idiot, and there's no room for that at MSU. If he fucks up again, Dantonio and Hollis are going to take a LOT of shit. They were threatening to expel kids from all public schools in Michigan for partying during Cedarfest (didn't result in serious injuries) but for some reason, not only is Winston allowed back to school immediately, but he's allowed represent our school on a national level. I have faith that Hollis and Coach D believe he is going to be a positive influence, but right now it just smells funny. Thoughts?
