From the
altfriday5:
1. What makes you feel as if where you live is your "home", rather than just somewhere to stay?
The smells that I like having around. Time alone there, reliably. My cats. My bed. root on at least one system that doesn't leave the premises. Waking up on a schedule that I set. Some of the stuff hanging on my place's walls.
2. How "homey" does your current abode feel to you?
OK, could be better. In a previous place, almost all of my decor went into the lab. Now it's spread throughout. So, it seems slightly sparse, like there's spots of my preferred decorations, and some of nothing. While there's normal levels of furniture. Sometimes it looks like I just moved it, or I'm halfway through hanging things after painting. But I chose this place partly for the interesting interior architecture and colors (after price; I am a cheapskate).
3. What would your dream home be like?
Currently, I assume. I'd need paper and pencils to sketch the layouts. It would cause the least amount of damage possible. I'd have places to work and play. Practically limitless storage, at least for the stuff I use. A well-stocked kitchen with nearly everything I've ever wanted in a kitchen and storage left over.
4. What would your nightmare home be like?
Sorry, but nope.
5. Of all the places you have lived in your life, where did you feel most "at home"?
A 2-story place I lived in a few years ago. The color scheme was mostly my favorite color. It was quiet, with friendly neighbors who managed to never be invasive and rarely loud.
From
thefridayfive:
1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
Paternal middle name, passed to firstborn sons for at least the past 3 generations. I suspect it came on the boat over as a last name.
2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
I have no desire to have children personally. If I reproduced, I'd like the middle name to stay somewhere. Also I'm a fan of hyphenated or maternal names, whichever. Like I said, I'm not personally going to reproduce and it's highly unlikely I change my mind.
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
I can't remember.
4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
As in, today? I'm not sure that I would. I'm rather fond of it, actually.
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
Yes. Some as other names, most even weirder things. Apparently my name is hard to pronounce. Go figure that I mispronounce names several times before I get them right.
