Is that a Hair vocal book I see? Did someone audition with Hair? That's too funny.

I saw many many many people with those books haha...I was planning on singing from the show as well, it's not uncommon.

I'm not a singer, so I don't know from experience, but I have heard many times from my friends who do theater that the casting directors do not want to hear a song from the show they are auditioning you for. Maybe thats wrong, I don't personally know!

It depends...if they really don't want to hear something from the show, they'll specify not to. I know for the ECC they were holding they said they would prefer a rock/pop song from the '60s/'70s but they wanted people to sing whatever they were comfortable with.

Usually for professional auditions unless they ask for something specifically from the show, you're not supposed to sing from the show but for this call they pretty much were like "anything goes" as far as I know.

I read for the non-Equity that they wanted an upbeat rock/pop song, too.
