I am amused by how many people I know in these photo sets.

That's just utterly sad lining up at 1 am. *head shake*

At least they did something good with it (food donation).

Well, considering it's been rumored that no one after 4am was even seen, I don't think it's sad at all.

I think that's awesome that they did what they felt they had to do to have a chance at their dream.

I agree. People camp out overnight to SEE shows sometimes. This was potentially a one time chance to be a part of that. Good for them.

I beg to differ. When you really want something, you do what you can. If waking up at 1am to be first is what you have to do, then you damn well do it!

I disagree with that.

What about that don't you agree with?

That you have to wake up at 1 am most of the time. But that is my opinion.

Try being a working actor in NYC. You gotta do what you gotta do sometimes, and if you have to wake up that early to be seen, you've gotta do it since there are people out there willing to get there earlier than you.

Also, I had come all the way from NC to go to that audition, I didn't want to risk coming all that way and spending all that money to get there and not even get seen. Damn straight I was getting there early.

why is following your dream sad?

Reply

wagrobanite January 22 2010, 19:26:45 UTC
Following the dream isn't. Waiting in line at 1 am is.

You do realize that sometimes you need to wait in line at 1 am to follow your dream, right? They're not mutually exclusive.

I think you need a time out.

That's your opinion. It's not mine.

I guess it's easier to have that opinion if your dream is to do something that not as many people want to do, thus making it unnecessary to get into a line at 1 am? People all have different dreams though, and different dreams require going to different lengths to achieve them. *shrug*

they aren't lining up to see a show, they're lining up for work. there's a difference.

sometimes, that's the only way to get seen for a show. it sucks a lot less to show up at 1 or 2 in the morning and know you'll get seen than to sit around all day at an EPA and just hope that maybe they'll have time for you. it's not pretty and it's not fun, but that's what you have to do sometimes.
