Varanasi

Though initially worried about Varanasi, i'm so glad to be here now.  This has got to be the most traditional and alien India i've experienced so far.  Life here is so different, so separate from India Tourism, it feels completely authentic and awe inspiring.

We're staying in the Shanti Guesthouse.  I'm on the Rooftop Restaurant/hang out/internet cafe with dozens of other travelers from all over the world.  The building overlooks the Ganges River and it's amongst an impossible tangle of streets no more than 2 metres wide.  Last night we watched ritualistic body burning at the Manikarnika Ghat and we'll be looking into Yoga during our stay here.

We'll be here for about 4 days to soak in the atmosphere and to finally settle into one place.  I've developed a bit of a cold and i've had Banana Curd Honey and Ginger Lemon Honey Tea for breakfast to hopefully help get over it.
