It's not a perfect analogy
It occurred to me that Montgomery Scott may have also inadvertently discovered an apt metaphor for finding the right relationship with the right person at the right time.
It's like trying to hit a bullet with a smaller bullet fired from horseback whilst wearing a blindfold.
Translation: it's a tough shot, but if you make it you look good.
(which is actually a line from something else and will now force me to re-evaluate my ability to convey messages without blatantly ripping-off other people's work.)
