What a great weekend!
This household had a fabulous weekend. Many Thank Yous to all the people who made it possible!
We started Friday by going over to Harriet Manor for some grilled pork loin and birthday cake. David's brother and his family drove up for the reception because they're really sweet and it was David's niece's 4th birthday so we needed cake. It was really lovely out and great to see them again. Usually I see his siblings and their families only for Thanksgiving and maybe one other time in a year, so this was a treat. The kids are growing up so quick. As a trend that would continue through the weekend
mizzlaurajean and
davidschroth were fantastic hosts who really made the fun possible. We eventually went home after sign making, box folding, and chatting til late.
Saturday I loaded up mostly only the stuff I might need for the day and got picked up by
tesla_aldrich who arrived with
mizzlaurajean and
davidschroth to head out to the picnic site and set up. We had taken everything party related to LJ's house the night before so I wouldn't forget it.:) I left home sans baby so I could actually do things which worked out well. We got to the site and my family was in full on decorating mode. They did a great job making things festive and it really made my life easier not having to worry about the stuff like silverware or tablecloths. We all finished and then people started showing up.
It was lovely and grand. The weather turned out beautiful and the site was great. There were enough kids that, to quote someone else, they reached critical mass and entertained themselves with relative ease. Music broke out after a while.
mrsmodew and
aelburr did a fantastic job on our cakes. They were tasty and good lookin'! Many people showed up and brought food and to help balance out the situation ate an admirable amount of food. We still have a hefty amount of leftovers and were thinking about a BBQ next Sunday maybe.:) All in all a wonderful way to celebrate our wedding.
We went until around 6 or so and then packed up and took off for a little reboot at home. Then we headed over to Harriet Manor for some more nibbles, ice cream drinks, much chatting, and some great music. Oh! And we opened our presents and went ooh and aah!
dd_b even brought over a digital picture frame to scroll through photos from our picnic festivities. Lovely and lovely.
Sunday David and I took turns sleeping and taking care of
buttonfish. We didn't really get moving until around 2 in the afternoon and then I drove us over to
drewan and
rvrjoe775 for some quiet leftovers and Bull Durham. Wizard broke out afters and we had a nice time. Then back home for quiet.
Thanks to everyone who came, helped, washed, lugged, ate, drank, played, hugged, hosted....Actually a huge thank you to
davidschroth who worked himself into a migraine I'm pretty sure. You quietly worked your butt off and we really appreciated it.
mizzlaurajean takes best friend to a new level. I'm pretty sure she has personally sponsored most of our lives since January. I am incapable of saying thank you enough.
