For every promises kept, there were also promises broken. The promise to protect Tsuna was the only promise they’d never, ever break for as long as they’re breathing. It was their ultimate connection.
Tsuna was their ultimate connection.
Working alongside each other throughout the years as Vongola guardians strengthened their ties. Shouting at each other, yelling at each other, laughing with each other, stealing kisses during missions just to be so embarrassed when Tsuna would catch them every time…
When Tsuna died, their ultimate bond shattered.
Gokudera cried.
Yamamoto cried.
And then Tsuna came back, only that he was ten years too young.
It wasn’t surprising at all when ten years younger Gokudera confronted ten years older Yamamoto in the Rain Guardian’s private room after a round of training with Lal Mirch.
“You broke the promise,” young Gokudera hissed through gritted teeth, shaking with anger and disappointment.
Yamamoto could only give him a sad smile. He couldn’t even say “You broke it too”.
Gokudera understood anyway.
